Celebrate Pride Month with Dylan Archambault's Curated Collection

Art PicksInspiration

Guest curators share the art that influences their creative lives. In our Guest Curator series, we feature a local tastemaker in Canada and share their favourite works of art on Partial. For our Pride Month edition, Partial is thrilled to introduce to Vancouver-based entrepreneur, Dylan Archambault.

By celebrating and affirming their right to body autonomy, these artworks challenge societal norms and contribute to the dismantling of oppressive structures.

About the Collection, ‘YOUR BODY IS YOUR BODY AND IT’S THE LEAST INTERESTING THING ABOUT YOU

“In curating this collection, I begin with my personal appreciation for vivid and vibrant colours. They take centre stage, exuding an abundance of energy and allure. My selection revolves around artworks that explore the theme of the human body, encompassing portraiture, figure and life drawing, photography, as well as abstract. These pieces possess a remarkable ability to challenge conventional notions of beauty, captivating viewers by directing their focus towards the intricate details and unique aspects of the human body. Beauty can be found in every facet of these meat suits we operate in and yet it is the dynamic energy and vibrant expressions conveyed by these artworks that truly captivate our attention.”

“I have purposefully sprinkled in subtle yet powerful overtones of queer liberation. At this pivotal moment in history, it is imperative to celebrate the rich tapestry of all 2SLGBTQIA+ identities, throughout any and all artist mediums. In particular, this collection includes a number of pieces that embrace a wide range of expressions of queer bodies. This inclusion serves as a powerful and transformative act of resistance and revolution, especially in the face of increasing hateful legislature and discrimination targeting the rights of our Trans and Non-binary community. By celebrating and affirming their right to body autonomy, these artworks challenge societal norms and contribute to the dismantling of oppressive structures.”
