Partial is an art marketplace and platform that began with a simple goal: To bring more original Canadian art onto more walls – directly from the artists that made it. Within their operation, they have continuously supported OCAD U artists through many different opportunities they’ve curated over the years.
OCAD U’s partnership with Partial Gallery commenced in October 2018 as a destination for art collectors and patrons of the university to collect art by OCAD U students and alumni. Today, with over 100 artists and 1200 works of art on Partial’s OCAD U Showcase, this curated list features a range of fresh voices and innovative styles from both students and recent graduates.
The partnership extends beyond the digital marketplace, and into in-person community events, connecting different sectors with the arts. One of their most recent events was a partnership with WeirFoulds LLP. On Tuesday, February 13th, 2024, WeirFoulds LLP hosted Partial Gallery and three artists including OCAD U alum Suhmer Hyatt at the firm’s Toronto office in celebration of Black History Month. Pieces from each of the artists were placed on display followed by a panel discussion moderated by Partial Gallery’s co-founder and CEO, Tammy Yiu Coyne.
Partial and WeirFoulds LLP partnered last year as well to feature OCAD U artists as part of an exhibition and artist panel during Pride Month. The exhibition featured Emerald Repard-Denniston, Helio Eudoro, Brian Jiang, and Sara Shoghi, who are part of the OCAD U Showcase on Partial.
In January 2024, Partial gallery curated an exhibition as part of DesignTO featuring many artists including talented OCAD U artists.
OCAD U talent continues to be featured on Partial’s OCAD U Artist Showcase platform. This showcase is a great place to discover amazing artwork by OCAD U students and alumni while offering the option to buy or rent your favourite original art pieces.
If you’re looking for fresh new artwork to add to your collection and support emerging artists, check out our new Partial artists Sarah Young, Isabella Nicastro, Sara Shoghi, Stacy Athena May, and Elyse Ricketts as part of the OCAD U Showcase.
